ROMAN PICTURES

Being in a gloomy mood I looked through a file with some photographs I took one evening in Rome, some months ago. I had forgotten about them, though the solitary feeling they provided harmonizes well with the grey and rainy dusk lingering outside my window here in Hässleholm.

I began taking the photos while I walked down to our magazine where I often sit and write, there I ended up looking at some pictures in the art books I have laying around, before I decided for an evening stroll in the neighbourhood, watching the grafitti. A perishable art form that gradually disappears, as I hope my melancholy mood eventually will do as well. When I came home I gave our fish some food and went to bed.

Some friends of mine use to complain that my blog entries are too wordy, so here I give you one with almost no words at all:

The Swedish Academy decided to award the Austrian author Peter Handke the Nobel Prize in Literature for ”an influential work that with linguistic ingenuity has explored the periphery and the specificity of human experience." I do not understand what they mean by exploring the periphery of human...
On the eighth of May this year I was in a heavy downpour driving through Germany. A nightmare since the major thoroughfares cutting through Germany and Italy nowadays are clogged by seemingly endless rows of monstrous trucks. Furthermore, when freed from...
Here in Rome, spring is changing fast into summer. A few weeks ago, nature rested in anticipation of the explosion that followed. For a couple of days the sky has now been boundlessly clear blue and the street around the corner, constantly lined with parked cars, has after its dreary everydayness...
Russian Collusion has lately come to signify a suspicion of Russia's interference in the 2016 US election campaign to prevent Hillary Clinton from becoming USA´s president and secure Donald Trump's victory. Since then, the term has also come to denote Russia's alleged attempts to tear apart...
During my time at Lund University, it was in some radical cliques necessary to be familiar with Karl Marx's writings. However, any superficial knowledge was far from being enough, especially for someone who like me was not familiar with all intricate aspects of Marx´s Das Kapital, nor had...
In school, I was asked by a Swedish teacher "interpret" the poem Lunaria by the Swedish poet Wilhelm Ekelund: Far from others you seem to stand, so strange and quiet, your gaze is yours and cold; but the depth is heavy with desire. Your mood is not like others. Though the sunny gully...
